Make Ford be responsible, do a recall!!!! There are complaints similar to mine for several model years of focuses all over the internet.
I can never lock my car, because I may not be able to get back in, and now the drivers door doesn't always lock anyways, even when I'm going down the road and it used to auto lock.
I have 3 kids in the back of my car almost all the time and it scares me if I crash, they may or may not be able to get out. This is a safety issue, I had an infant get locked in the back thank heavens I wasn't in a wreck, we took her out and had to leave her car seat in the back (this is how I figured out the needle nose plier trick). I have fought the dealership as well as corporate Ford and they won't do anything, they say they are aware of the problem but won't do anything about it. I can open the front doors by pulling really hard if I am inside, one of the backdoors I can pull the latch up with needle nose pliers from inside, the other I can't open once it locks. Two days later all four doors locked and I couldn't get in, 3 weeks later they unlocked randomly, despite the fact the car hadn't moved (I couldn't get in it). tweener98, Rochester, WA, USA problem #4 Focus SESĪt about 58,000 mi intermittent problems began again, at 63,638 mi dealership blew out the locks and told me it was because I lived on a gravel road and had to blow it out or bring it back to have them blow it out monthly. (There are multiple complaints and visits for the same thing.)
Took the vehicle to the dealership, they tried to give me paperwork on how to use the remote. 40,800 mi, doors began to intermittently not unlock, no matter if I used the key, the remote, the inside switches or handles. June S., Old Town, ME, USA problem #5 Focus SESĪt approx. The Ford place that wanted to fix it quoted me 700 dollars!! Guess they will just stay unlocked. I finally got the locks to unlock but now they won't lock again. jtslmmr1, San Jose, CA, USA problem #6 Focus I didn't have an extra $1300 to fix any of the other doors so I'm still locking and unlocking my doors manually. I took the car back right away and then got the bad news. I didn't find out that it was going to be an extra charge for to get the other doors fixed until I got my car back and only the drivers door worked. I showed the sales guy what the problem was and they wanted to charge me 1300 to fix the drivers door only and then it would be an extra charge to fix the 3 doors (separately). I took the car to the Morgan hill ford store and they said that there was nothing wrong.
